Canisius Nzayisenga is a highly experienced Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) expert with over 25 years of practical expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of development projects. With a solid academic background in Statistics and Business Administration, Canisius has worked extensively in Rwanda, Burundi, and Niger across diverse sectors including health, agriculture, and rural development.
His expertise aligns strongly with the terms of reference for the evaluation of the agroforestry finance pilot under the project “Adequate Financial Services for Sustainable Agroforestry Value Chain Development in Rwanda.” Canisius has a proven track record in managing complex evaluations that combine both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, skills crucial for assessing the effectiveness of financial services and the associated capacity-building initiatives for agroforestry value chains.
Having led several large-scale M&E projects, including baseline studies, mid-term evaluations, and impact assessments, Canisius has developed exceptional skills in survey design, data collection, and analysis. His experience includes leading surveys to assess the efficiency of financial models, assessing technical support mechanisms, and evaluating the adequacy of rural development programs. His recent consultancy work, including evaluating the profitability and efficiency of cooperatives and assessing rural health interventions, equips him with the necessary expertise to evaluate the agroforestry financial products (“Kundigiti”, “Noz’Urubaho”, and “Ongerigiti”) and their delivery processes.
Additionally, Canisius brings substantial experience in designing data management systems and implementing quality control processes in field data collection—skills essential for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the assessment findings. His fluency in English, French, and Kinyarwanda further supports his ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups, ensuring comprehensive and culturally relevant data collection and analysis.
In his role as Senior Consultant, Canisius will apply his expertise in developing customized M&E tools, coordinating field teams, and ensuring the rigorous analysis of survey data to provide actionable insights for scaling the agroforestry finance products and improving the support services provided to farmers and SMEs in Rwanda’s agroforestry sector.
